Review of the Life Enhancement Sanctuary

Review of the Life Enhancement Sanctuary

Written from both a professional and personal perspective this review is based upon three months of attending the Life Enhancement Sanctuary, Hill View Manor in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

I have spent the last five years conducting PhD ethnographic research into the emotion management of a diverse range of extrasensory, spiritual and holistic practitioners. By ethnographic I mean I fully immersed myself into the new age and spiritualist subcultures conducting observations, interviews and at one time I was even a participant observer and trained to be a medium.

During this time I have had the pleasure of learning a vast amount about a wide range of practices ranging from Reiki, tarot and crystal healing though to procedures such as past life regression. The extrasensory occurrences I experienced in the field led me to reflect upon my own thoughts and feelings within the research process, and life in general. Overall I have met some amazing people from all walks of life. Yet I have to say among the most genuine and spiritually minded of these practitioners is Jon Carlisle - owner of the Life Enhancement Sanctuary.

Attending the sanctuary was done, not on a professional basis but a personal one. Life had thrown me a difficult hand. I not only needed to emotionally break free from a recent trauma but I also wanted to detach from an unhealthy relationship. I was not in the best of shape. My analytical mind meant that other therapy sessions had been counterproductive. I was seeking some relaxation and focus- on- me time. So back in July following a recommendation from a friend I contacted the sanctuary. Not for therapy- I was disheartened with that, but for a Reiki massage which was priced at an introductory offer of £26 for a full 90 minutes. I was far from disappointed. This is an excellent offer, which the Sanctuary provides all new clients for their first visit, in addition to a second visit offered at half-price.

The Sanctuary is based within the center of Knaresborough between York and Harrogate. It is within an easy to find location and there is adequate car parking available. The treatment room is very relaxing with nature inspired photography and artwork covering the walls. From first meeting Jon, his lovely energy, relaxed and friendly demeanor meant he instantly put me at ease. Not once did I feel rushed or uncomfortable. Within my initial consultation a range of questions were explored so he could tailor my treatment according to my needs. Combining both Reiki and massage was a new experience for me, which was much better than more expensive Swedish massages I have had at other places. I slept for a solid fourteen hours following my first session. I felt like a new person.

It was during this first session that I became aware of the wide range of services that the Sanctuary offers. It offers a tailored and holistic approach to increase self-awareness, self-esteem, self-productivity, general wellbeing and much more, as well as using techniques to overcome childhood issues and trauma. It was then that I decided I would invest in myself and since other therapy had not worked I thought why not. Within the seven sessions I had with Jon we worked through many issues from improving my self-esteem and worth, trauma, public speaking and presenting, procrastination and healthy eating.

Gradually over the weeks I felt uplifted and motivated to make positive changes in my life something, which I could not achieve within previous therapy sessions. Rather than focusing upon the negatives and the problems, my automatic response was gearing towards the positives and the solutions. Now that I have completed the process I cannot thank Jon enough. I now have a clear head, feeling motivated and ready to excel within my life and chosen career. I would recommend this to anyone who wants live a more fulfilled life.

Using techniques such as NLP and hypnosis to speak to the unconscious mind Jon sees empowerment as the key focus of his consultations. Sessions are expertly guided by him but ultimately led by the client and their individual and diverse needs. Jon does not like clients to worry they are on a time limit so sessions tend to come to a natural end. Sessions are competitively priced at a flat rate of £35 and are available at flexible times including evenings and weekends.

Jon’s intuitive nature and client driven attitude comes from a genuine desire to help people inspired from his many travels around the globe. Jon is a qualified psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, and masseur and Reiki practitioner. However it is what life has taught him that enables the most success in his work. From a very young age armed with an inquisitive heart and mind he was self-sufficient travelling around Europe, the middle- east, South East Asia and Sweden. During which he has had many spiritual experiences including enduring poverty, which aided self-development. For a brief time he also followed the Buddhist path and had daily contact with respected spiritual leaders/teachers. He has had a variety of jobs way including teaching English aboard, working in a drug and rehabilitation unit and at one time was even a police officer. Jon’s compassionate nature wants to help people. His vast testimonials are proof to the fact that he is now living his true vocation.
