Change your life story
It doesn’t matter how much time you have wasted in the past, the fact is you can always re-start and re-write your life’s story because the next hour is new, fresh and unspoiled. A new day will always bring new opportunities as author Ashleigh Brilliant as observed, “At any moment I could start being more of the person I dream to be – but which moment should I choose?”
So if tomorrow is the day you decide to get up earlier, exercise more, eat well, worry less, or work on whatever it is you choose to work on shows you are moving in the right direction – towards your goals. It is never too late to become the person you have always wanted to be. At any given moment you can open your diary or personal journal and re-write your life story and decide how you would like it to unfold, by changing central characters and creating new endings.
What’s your calling
We seem to live in an age where many have forgotten what life is all about. We can send emails, faxes, connect with many on social networks, however we live in a time where most humans have never been less connected. We seem to have lost sight of the things that matter to us the most and have lost touch with our purpose. We can send people to the moon however we struggle with walking up the street to visit our new neighbour. We can fire weapons with precision and accuracy however we struggle to keep dates with our families and friends.
One of the lesson’s I have learnt in my life is if you don’t act on life, life has a habit of acting on you. So follow your calling in life because before you know it days slip into weeks, weeks slip into months and before you know it it’s all over and you are left with nothing more than a heart filled with regrets.
The question I am asked the most by people who come to me for spiritual guidance is “What should I be doing in my life?” and my answer has always remained the same “Find your calling in life”. We all have special talents and we are all here for a purpose has each and every one of us has a unique trait. So what will you do in life that will make a difference for humanity, who’s hearts will you touch, who will shed a tear when you die, as Mahatma Gandhi quoted: “Be the change that you wish to see most in your world.” And once you achieve this, your life will change.
Stop thinking small thoughts
Many motivational speakers will tell you the same “If you are not pursuing your dreams, you are fuelling your limitations.” As Benjamin Disraeli once said, “Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think.”
It is not what you are that’s holding you back in life. It’s what you think you are not. It’s all about what’s going on in your inner world that is preventing you from having the things you want in life or the goal you wish to achieve. Once you set aside limiting thoughts and remove limiting beliefs then you will see immediate improvements in your personal circumstances.
Most of us go through life with a belief that we can never be more than we are, so shed the shackles of “small thinking” and dare to dream big as it is only our own fear that holds us back. As Seneca quoted “It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.”
Setting your Goals
Setting clear goals helps to provide better choices for you, if you know exactly what you are aiming for, it becomes easier to select those choices and activities that will get you there. Realizing your vision helps to define it, and writing down your goal helps with your intentions, as everything starts with an intention.
The main reason for writing down your goal is to keep you alert to the opportunities. It’s a discipline that keeps your mind magnetized to seeking out new opportunities and circumstances that arise. Goal-setting helps you to commit to your actions by following opportunities rather than waiting for something to fall onto your lap.
So remember you are only as rich, be it spiritually or materially, as your dreams. So set big goals and banish fear and limiting beliefs and dare to dream.
I have heard many motivational speakers quote, “Actions speak louder than words”, which is a fact. I have also heard many motivational speakers quote, “Knowledge is power” which I beg to differ. “Knowledge is only potential power, the moment you act on it. Wisdom is about knowing what to do next, skill is about knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it.
The attributes of a strong person is not about doing what he wants to do or feels like doing, it’s about doing what he knows he ought to do, like getting off the couch or watching television for three hours on the things that are unimportant in life, and instead going out with his children to the park or perhaps reading them a story and Instead of sleeping in perhaps going to the gym or going jogging or working on his goal. Most of us spend our days waiting for an ideal path to appear right in front of us. We forget that paths are made by walking and not waiting.
It’s good to dream big and pursue your goals as your thoughts and actions will bring opportunities and circumstances into your life however thinking thoughts alone will not help your business, or help you to pay your bills, you need to take action along with all these steps.
