Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Do you have a dream?
Do you ever wake up and wonder what would it be like to love life?
Many people trying to decide what to do with their lives are often told to follow their dreams and “follow your dreams” is probably the most commonly expressed inspirational concept ever created.
It encourages us not to stay content in our safe existence, but to make a leap, to follow the passion that would drive us if we gave it the chance.
Everyone always says, “follow your dreams” but not everyone does it.
When you set out to follow your dreams it’s not always easy…as it can be a scary decision to make and many people just put off what they really want to do, because there’s always a reason for why now is not a good time
But once you do actually make that decision to go for it people soon realise it’s not always plain sailing.
Life interjects, bills pile up, and sometimes we have to do jobs we don’t want to do just to make it through the day.
Your job might be terrible, it might be horribly boring and physically draining.
You might be forced to watch round after round of layoffs and budget cuts, wondering if and when the axe will fall on you.
And of course, there are plenty of other terrible ways that your life can turn sideways, too.
Being a dreamer doesn’t mean that you walk around with your head in the clouds.
It means that you’re seeking a purpose for your life
There are many reasons many dreams never go anywhere, one reason is because the dreamer keeps it all to themselves and it becomes a quiet dream that only lives inside their mind.
And unfortunately too many people will never accomplish their dreams because they simply refuse to believe in themselves.
Many of us have so many ideas swirling in our minds and we don’t know where to start… while others are unable to put our finger on even one.
It’s not enough to have great ideas
Our brains behave like a beehive filled with ideas.
Hundreds of conflicting impulses, pushing us in different directions.
We never want to do one thing, we want to do all the things.
We simultaneously want to exercise and to go out for pizza and our desires become countless, working to nudge our minds in their own selfish direction.
And so usually, the desire is going nowhere and is controlled more by the terrain rather than by the will of what’s inside it.
Lots of people have great ideas and the problem is that too many great ideas cancel each other out.
If you want the power to follow your dreams, you have to say no to all the desires.
It’s not easy, but if that’s for you, at least you know the price.
Every great achievement began in the mind of one person.
Remember that dreams begin with you, and then depend on your passion and energy to share them and make them happen.
If it gets tough, remember the words of Martin Luther King Jr.: “I can truly face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, but I still have a dream.”
So don’t be afraid to talk about your dreams, don’t keep them locked away as that holds you accountable.
When you have told others about your dreams , it spurs you on to actually doing it so you don’t look foolish.
As you continually say it, you begin to believe it more and more.
While there may be a large number of steps to take, the good news is that the first step is completely achievable, so is the second step and at some point your dream will mean so much to you that you will stop at nothing.
There are a number of reasons to follow your dreams, to break the trend, and to live the life you’ve always wanted.
When the dream overtakes you, no matter what your fears are, you will not allow it to stop you.
You will stare your fears in the face.
You will become a courageous person.
What has stopped you from following your dream?
