Why are signs, portent and omens necessary to us in this day and age? Historically they have been used in forms of divination, religious context and in many cultures they are used for daily guidance and training.
Today we use signs to guide, direct and offer information. In the physical world, we have road signs, shop signs and body language among many other forms of signs. They tell us which direction to travel in, what a place has to offer and how a person feels or how they are interacting with us.
We take the time to notice those signs as they are beneficial to us in our daily lives. So what about the other signs the ones that come from the other realms, of spirit, angels and divine source?
The bible and other religious texts are filled with signs, portents and omens, they are told in the form of stories and parables.
MIkao Usui sat under a tree and received signs in the form of symbols which led him to develop the Reiki system of healing. Moses saw the burning bush, which is now a symbolic reminder of man’s devotion to God.
Those who follow a spiritual, angelic path or even a cultural path as their upbringing use signs, portents or omens to help guide them on their journey in life.
We can acknowledge these signs by being open and aware of their potential to show themselves to us in many different ways. They may come in the form of a book, song, an article in a magazine an overheard conversation or a picture on a wall. There are many different ways to receive a sign and part of our understanding is to be open to recognising them when they arrive.
It may be that you have asked for a specific sign and are on the lookout for this, such as a feather from the angelic realms, a coin, a bird or animal. Others may ask for or receive signs during meditation or trance work.
How they are delivered either from the world of spirit, angels or divine is out of our control, once the work has been done to request a sign it then remains for us to become patient and wait, be open, acceptant and free flowing to the potential of its arrival.
A time stamp cannot be put on the request for a sign to appear, we also have to be open to the fact it may not come in the way it is expected, for this reason we have to be open to that possibility and to be patient as we may miss it when it arrives.
Signs in the mystical world can be like signs in the material world, they come to guide us, show us what is taking place in our life or give us a feeling of what is going on for us and those around us. What we should not do is put our life on hold waiting for the sign to appear because when we strive to see and receive what we expect to get, we may miss the actual truth of the sign, or that it is so small, or it arrives so quickly we miss it or the opportunity of something else, another door opening because we were so focused on looking in the wrong direction.
When the sign we have been asking for arrives what should we do.
Firstly we acknowledge it and thank the angels, spirit or divine for sending it. Be grateful we were open and acceptant enough to recognise it.
Use it to guide us on our path; like the signs in the physical world there are some that we must follow or we put ourselves in danger, we would not ignore the sign that tells us to stop when a train is coming, but we may choose to shop in the store with the 50% sale on.
These signs are for guidance and we have free will and choice as to how we respond to the signs we take notice of. We may even choose to ignore them entirely this is our choice.
What will happen if we miss the signs that come our way, most likely nothing other than we may take longer to get to the space we were asking for help with, we may come to it in our own time by using our intuition and allowing ourselves to be
Just being aware that the signs are there to guide is as simple as it should be, they are not there to bring us bad tidings they are there to help us and bring us to a place of understanding that everything has its place in our own belief system and how we use it.
Everything is as it should be and allow it to be.
