Medicine has advanced considerably over the last hundred years, healing people through natural medicine is being replaced more and more by the pharmaceutical companies who would rather prescribe you a drug that investigate an alternative .Some of our dubious practices in history are now totally obsolete.

One such remedy was to bleed the patient, this was supposed to cleanse the blood of the diseased person, and although this seems very primitive by today’s medical advances at the time they were considered advanced. Throughout history many civilisations have used plants, herbs and energy to heal body and mind; it is only in recent times that these ancient practices have been given the recognition they deserve. Many cultures like the aborigines, red Indians, Aztecs and Eastern teachings have harnessed and used this wisdom, they knew how to heal the body and access the energy.

If we take this theory into the next millennium I wonder if we will be talking about surgery as an archaic way of healing people. Maybe scalpels and knives will be looked upon in future museums as some kind of medieval way of curing people; we may look back at this period in time and wonder how little we really did know about the mental, spiritual and physical body.

It is in my opinion that natural medicine today, homeopaths, reflexology, hands on healing and many more have recently come into the firing line by Codex Almentarius it is a global cartel designed to hand over the control of natural remedies to the pharmaceutical giants. This simply means more restrictions on natural health and our choices being limited to prescribed drugs.

As more and more people are turning their back on conventional medicine and finding more complimentary therapies to help them overcome illnesses, we are seeing in the mainstream media a lot of new alternative therapies emerging.

One of the most controversial subjects is faith healing, this is a system which is founded on the belief that certain people or places have the ability to cure and heal, other types of energy healing are known as pranic and reiki, this is also commonly misunderstood as a way of healing, over the recent years this form of therapy has taken on its own merits and you can now get a recognised qualification in healing.

Pranic Healing requires no drugs, or instruments not even physical contact with the subject, it is based on the belief that the body is self-healing and works on the chi energy to help the body balance and repair. Prana means life force and originally comes from the Far East.

Prana therapists can sense the subtle energy fields of the body; science can also see the auric field around the body with Kirlian photography, a method that can see colour or life force energy around living things. Disease can manifest within the auric field long before it is detected in the physical body, mediums, psychics and healers can often feel this before the client is aware of being ill.

Scientists are working on new technology to develop new ways to detect illness in the body without invasive surgery; this is something healers have known how to do for years, when science and healing eventually work together the world will see a very different approach to medicine.

Nurses, doctors, psychologist or anyone involved in helping people recover from illness or emotional trauma are healers on some level, when you combine physical, mental and spiritual you are healing the whole person, this new approach is called integrative medical care. In the USA scientists are conducting research in to this phenomenon, and the studies are showing that healing is working; it’s interesting that scientists know about atoms protons and electricity but for some reason can’t get their minds around healing energy which is a form of electrical current.

For the foreseeable future this debate will go on, believers and sceptics alike will battle for the answers, as for me it’s a simple conclusion…it’s all in our hands.
