Healing Heartbreak - Rhodochrosite

As we approach Valentine’s Day, which is observed on February the 14th each year, our thoughts often turn to romantic love. It is an occasion in which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, chocolates, cards and other gifts. Valentine’s Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the Cupid.

For so many people though it can be a day that focuses on the lack of love in their life. So many people wish to draw love, especially romantic love into their life. In this article I wish to help those of you who have distressing emotions around love and relationships to transform them into positive emotions.

Once our heart becomes wounded, it can take some time to heal. Heartbreak causes us to place barriers between our self and the outside world. We lose our faith in humanity and our trust in others. Basically we feel abandoned and betrayed; we become fearful that we will never find love again.

I have found over the last thirty years of being a crystal therapist and training others to become professional crystal therapists that one of the most important crystals to heal all kinds of heart trauma is Rhodochrosite. When your heart chakra has been damaged and you are carrying all kinds of emotional baggage, all types of symptoms can manifest themselves, including but not exclusively: relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, feeling unloved or unlovable, fatigue, fears and phobias, addictions, illness and insomnia.

Rhodochrosite is not the gentle loving energy of the rose quartz pink ray but it is the active energy of Divine love in action of the peach-pink ray. It facilitates the energy of compassion, but not pity. It does not encourage the sympathetic use of the pink ray, but rather the dynamic use of the peach-pink ray, whereby a greater understanding of the need to learn through the emotions is fully comprehended. Mankind has a great capacity to learn through emotions; this has been clearly demonstrated in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, where the use of instant communication or global news has moved whole nations as a single soul to end war, famine or disease and brings in the energy whereby the aggressive and destructive behaviour of others can no longer be hidden or tolerated.

The message of Rhodochrosite is: let’s change the world with enlightened Love. Rhodochrosite eases trauma by clearing traumatic events from the heart, solar plexus and sacral chakras. It swiftly clears old wounds, hurts and memories and will also purify the base chakra. It will restore Divine balance, and boost how you feel about yourself, this will help you focus on the Now. Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral with chemical composition MnCO3. In its (rare) pure form, it is typically a rose-red color, but impure specimens can be all shades of pink. The hardness varies between 3.5 and 4.5. It is transparent to translucent. It is often confused with the manganese silicate, rhodonite, but is distinctly softer. The name is derived from the Greek words ‘rhodon’, and ‘chroma’ meaning rose-colored. Beautiful rhombohedral crystals are expensive and rare. Tumbled stones, palm stones, slices and cabochons are affordable.
