When we forget to live from our heart it is easy to become disconnected from our surroundings. Being in harmony with our immediate surroundings increases well-being reduces stress and tension, allowing us to function better on all levels. It also allows us to have a profounder, more special connection to where we are, now, in the present moment.
The simple meditation/visualization in this article is easy to do and it will align you with your immediate surroundings in the present moment. By doing this you are recognizing that your immediate surroundings have a direct bearing on you and your well-being on all levels, physical, mental, emotional psychological, and spiritual.
The place you are right now may be not where you desire to be but with this simple meditation/visualization you should feel more in balance and hopefully centered.
One of the best gemstones I have found for centering is the beautiful peridot. It has a unique aura of springtime, renewal, refreshment and vitality.
It is also the best crystal for anyone who truly believes that everything wrong in their lives is due to outside circumstances that someone else is always at fault. It also heals the negative energy of the green ray – jealousy, resentment, selfishness, hypochondria, scarcity, hatred, greed, envy and spite. It is an excellent gemstone for people who are surrounded by disastrous relationships and refuse to acknowledge their part in the problem.
History Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one colour, an olive green. The intensity and tint of the green, however, depends on how much iron is contained in the crystal structure, so the color of individual peridot gems can vary from summery light yellowish green to bottle green. The most valued colour is a dark olive-green. Olivine, of which peridot is a type, is a common mineral in mafic and ultramafic rocks, and it is often found in lavas and in peridotite xenoliths of the mantle, which lavas carry to the surface; but gem quality peridot only occurs in a fraction of these settings.
Peridot can be also found in meteorites. Olivine in general is a very abundant mineral, but gem quality peridot is rather rare. Peridot is pronounced “Pair-ee-doh” as opposed to “Pair-ee-dot”. Peridot olivine is mined in Egypt, North Carolina, Arizona on the San Carlos Reservation, Hawaii, Nevada, and New Mexico at Kilbourne Hole, in the US; and in Australia, Brazil, China, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Norway, Pakistan, South Africa and Tanzania.
Peridot is often mistaken for emeralds and other green gemstones.
With a hardness of 7 it is suitable to wear in jewelry. Peridot crystals have been collected from some Pallasite meteorites. Peridot was mined in ancient Egypt on an island called Zeberget - later called St. John’s Island. Mining was done at night because legend said that peridot could not easily be seen during the day. The island was infested with serpents that made peridot mining a very dangerous occupation! The ancients believed peridot had the power to drive away evil spirits and the power was considered to be even more potent when the stone was set in gold.
Peridot was also said to strengthen the power of any medicine drunk from a goblet carved from the gemstone.
Peridot is mentioned in the Bible under the name chrysolite. Peridot is considered a secondary ‘Vedic’ gemstone ‘remedy’ after emerald for badly aspected mercury. Peridot is considered in the West the birthstone of those born in August.

Omael rules over growth, fertility, renewal, abundance and prosperity. This wonderful angel assists in restoring the proper functioning of all living things, including a happy family life, financial security and finding magic in the little things in life. Invoke this angel when you need an energy renewal.
Peridot Meditation: You will need two peridot crystals; even small tumbled stones will work. Hold a peridot in each hand. You can do this meditation sitting or lying down.
1. Focus on the soles of your feet.
2. Each time you breathe out imagine/feel you have roots growing downwards from your feet into the earth.
3. With each out breath imagine/feel the roots are getting deeper into the earth.
4. Allow all tension or stress to flow out through those roots, into the earth. Any energy we release routinely gets transmuted by the planet into positive useful energy.
5. Now switch your focus to the peridot crystals you are gently cradling in your hands. Allow the peridot crystals to activate and feel the energy flowing into you on all levels.
6. Then using your focused intent see the peridot energy forming a protective shield of golden light around you. See this light above, before, behind, beneath, to your right and to your left. At the same time allow this light to fill your heart and solar plexus chakras.
7. Once you feel connected in the present moment, the planet, and your heart centre let then energy slowly fade. 8.
You can repeat this process daily.
